Volkswagen Replacement Parts and Accessories Limited Warranty
At Vans Direct Accessories, we understand the importance of reliable replacement parts and accessories for your vehicle. This page provides information about the warranty terms described for Volkswagen Original Parts, factory-remanufactured parts, Economy Parts, and other eligible replacement components.
Warranty coverage depends on the type of part purchased, the circumstances of its installation, proof of purchase, and the applicable manufacturer warranty conditions.
1. Volkswagen Original Parts Warranty
Volkswagen Original Parts purchased over the counter or supplied as part of a non-warranty repair may qualify for a two-year warranty with unlimited mileage, subject to the applicable terms and exclusions.
The warranty period generally begins on the invoice date or the date of installation by an authorized workshop, as applicable.
To validate a warranty claim, customers must provide proof of purchase showing, at a minimum, the relevant part number and purchase date. Parts must be installed in accordance with Volkswagen AG’s instructions.
Where applicable, warranty coverage is limited to the repair or replacement of the defective item and may include eligible labor costs at an authorized Van Centre.
Normal wear-and-tear and service-adjustment policies applicable to new vehicles may also apply to replacement parts.
2. Warranty Claims and Exclusions
A warranty claim may be declined if the part was not installed according to Volkswagen’s instructions or if an applicable warranty exclusion applies.
Damage caused by transportation, improper storage, corrosion, external influences, unauthorized modifications, or incorrect installation may not qualify as a manufacturing defect.
Short deliveries, excess deliveries, incorrect deliveries, and damage occurring before installation or sale are handled separately from manufacturing-defect claims.
Customers should retain their purchase invoice and any installation records to support a warranty assessment.
3. Parts Purchased from Another Authorized Van Centre
If a required part is unavailable through the original Parts Department, it may be possible to purchase it from another authorized Volkswagen Van Centre.
However, additional parts costs resulting from purchasing through another centre may not be reimbursed under the warranty arrangements described in the manufacturer terms.
4. Normal Replacement Parts
If a Volkswagen Original Part fails after being installed by a non-authorized repairer, the vehicle should, where possible, be presented to an authorized Van Centre with the part still fitted.
This allows the repairer to assess whether the failure resulted from a manufacturing defect, external influence, or an incorrect repair or installation process.
If a manufacturing defect is confirmed and the purchase documentation verifies that the component is a Volkswagen Original Part, the claim may be considered under the applicable parts warranty.
Where a part has already been removed and returned to an authorized Parts Department, it should be tested where possible. If a manufacturing defect is confirmed, the claim may qualify for reimbursement of the part’s material cost, subject to the applicable conditions.
Parts purchased over the counter or as part of a retail or internal repair do not automatically qualify for factory goodwill assistance.
5. Volkswagen Economy Parts
Volkswagen Economy Parts are subject to their applicable warranty conditions.
Where replacement under the parts warranty is approved, Economy Parts may only be replaced with other Economy Parts, rather than new or exchange parts.
Economy Parts must not be used for standard vehicle warranty repairs or goodwill warranty repairs where prohibited by the applicable manufacturer requirements.
6. Trade Parts (TPS) Warranty Process
Parts purchased over the counter from an authorized Trade Parts Specialist (TPS) Centre may qualify for the standard parts warranty, subject to the applicable terms.
The TPS warranty process described in the manufacturer guidance distinguishes between different types of components:
Eligible electrical parts valued under £100: A TPS Centre may provide a replacement where an identifiable manufacturing defect is confirmed.
Eligible mechanical parts: Replacement may be available for qualifying components, excluding major units.
Electrical parts valued over Ā£100 and major unit assemblies: Customers may be referred to an authorized repairer for the vehicle’s manufacturer to assess the claim.
All claims remain subject to the applicable warranty conditions and assessment procedures.
7. Parts Installed in Non-Volkswagen Vehicles
A Volkswagen Original Part installed in a vehicle manufactured by another brand may qualify for a two-year parts warranty if the failure is caused by a manufacturing defect.
The component must be assessed to establish that the failure was not caused by external influences, incorrect installation, or unauthorized modification.
8. Original Parts Purchased Over the Counter
If a Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle Original Part purchased over the counter, including from a TPS Centre, develops a fault, the recommended first step is to arrange an assessment by an authorized Van Centre while the part remains installed, where possible.
This assessment helps establish whether the fault resulted from a manufacturing defect or another cause.
If the defect is confirmed and valid proof of purchase is provided, the claim may qualify for the applicable parts warranty, including justified diagnostic and installation costs where permitted.
If the part has already been removed and returned to an authorized Parts Department, it should be tested where possible. A confirmed manufacturing defect may qualify for a material-cost claim under the applicable terms.
Factory goodwill assistance is not automatically available for parts purchased over the counter or supplied as part of a retail or internal repair.
9. Original Parts Installed During the Vehicle Warranty Period
Original Parts installed under the factory vehicle warranty generally receive coverage only until the vehicle’s existing factory warranty expires, according to the manufacturer terms described here.
Different procedures may apply depending on when the defect is identified:
Defective before installation: A part that has never been fitted but is clearly defective because of a manufacturing issue should be processed through the applicable manufacturer return procedure.
Failure during installation or shortly afterward: If the part fails during fitting or shortly afterward, before the vehicle leaves the workshop or is returned to the customer, the applicable internal warranty-claim process should be followed.
Failure after the vehicle has been returned: If the vehicle initially operates correctly but subsequently returns with a confirmed manufacturing defect, the applicable warranty-claim procedure should be followed.
The relevant repair manual and manufacturer procedures must be followed. Where associated parts need replacement during a warranty repair, these should be replaced and claimed according to the applicable requirements.
Additional costs incurred through premium expedited ordering processes are not automatically recoverable under warranty.
10. Parts Covered Under Goodwill Arrangements
Subject to the applicable conditions, parts may receive warranty consideration where:
The UK brand has funded a part under a specific UK initiative.
Customer Care has funded a part under an approved UK goodwill arrangement.
A customer has contributed toward an approved factory or UK goodwill claim involving parts or labor.
Customers cannot obtain additional parts warranty coverage simply by contributing toward a repair that should be covered by the vehicle warranty. Parts installed under the vehicle warranty generally remain covered only until that warranty expires.
11. Warranty Documentation and Support
To help with a warranty assessment, customers should retain:
The original purchase invoice.
The relevant part number and purchase date.
Installation records, where applicable.
Details of the reported fault and any diagnostic findings.
All warranty claims are subject to verification, applicable exclusions, and the relevant manufacturer’s procedures.
12. Official Warranty Information
For the complete manufacturer warranty terms, exclusions, and claim procedures, consult the applicable official Volkswagen documentation.
